My favorite: Rap from Spain!

Hip-Hop culture arrived in Spain back in the 80s when the US set up military bases in Spain. Soldiers introduced the clothing, rap music, breakdancing and the Spanish youth felt really attracted to this new thing.
There were a few artist that rapped in that decade but weren't completely dedicated to rap, although they did influence rap. One of the first examples of Spanish rap beginnings can be found in the group MC Randy and DJ Jonco, but the only had singles.
Not only was Spanish rap the first one I really enjoyed listening to, but was also the one that really made me like rap for what it is and most of the Spanish artists that I listened to are amazing individuals that write amazing lyrics that inspire me to be the best I can be.
Spanish rap really developed and consolidated in the 90s, when the first Spanish rap album was published.

The responsible for this were the group CPV (Club de los Poetas Violentos). Consisted of El Meswy (MC), Jota Mayúscula (DJ), Kamikaze (MC), Mr. Rango (MC), Paco King (MC), Supernafamacho (MC) and Frank T (MC and producer). Frank T was one of the founders of the group but then he left it to pursue his solo career after their first LP Madrid Zona Bruta, in 1994. They are considered pioneers of Spanish rap and everyone agrees that they are one of the most influential rap groups in Spain. They were in Spain what NWA was here in the US.

Frank T is without a doubt a huge influence in Spain when it comes to rap. He's been making music since probably 1990 but his first published work was on 1994. He has produced music for SFDK, Arianna Puello, Zenit, El Chojin, La Excepción and has collaborated with a crazy amount of artists. Personally, his lyrics are a great inspiration and he has a way of explaining things in society that sometimes are not as cleared and his songs are a great boost for morale. He has 11 albums under his belt and until today he is still involved in music.

VKR (Verdaderos Kreyentes de la Religion del Hip-Hop) is another group considered pioneers of Spanish rap. Active since 1996, they consist of FJ Ramos (MC and producer), Poison (MC), Zarman (MC and producer), Sr. Tcee (MC), and Kultama (MC). The last 2 are Frank T's brothers. With 7 albums they are one of the most respected rap groups in Spain.

The next one is a huge inspiration in my life, an amazing individual who's evolved through out his career and has made huge accomplishments in rap and one rapper that has made rap known around the globe (especially in Latin America), Nach is one of the most sincere and skilled rappers Spain has given birth and every time he drops a new album, he gives us incredibly good music. He's been active since 1994 and he's also a poet, a writer, sociologist and actor with 12 albums under his belt and he was nominated to the Latin Grammy Awards in 2015 for Best Original Video. I saw him live that same year and he's one of the most humble and thankful people I've seen live. A complete rap icon. He is and will always be a legend.

The next is a group that I've admired a lot since I first listened to them. They are one group that everyone that listens to rap in Spanish relate to greatness when it comes to music from Spain. They've been active since 1993 and they have 9 albums under their belt. They have a strong fanbase in Spain and outside of it too. They've collaborated with the big artists in rap in Spain, Nach, Violadores del Verso, Frank T, Tote King and the list goes on. This duo consist of Zatu (MC) and Acción Sánchez (DJ and Producer).

The last group I will mention in this one will be one that are considered idols and will be remember as legends. Their lyrics are raw, funny, smart and honest. They are one of the biggest representatives of Spanish rap and everyone that has listened to their music love them and respect them. They consist of Lírico (MC), Kase O (MC), Sho Hai (MC) and R de Rumba (DJ/Producer), they've been blessing us with their music since 1995 and they've collaborated individually and as a group with a handful of artist both from Spain and outside of it. They've won different awards including an MTV Europe Music Award in 2007 for best Spanish group. They have more than 10 albums together and as solo work and all of us fans are waiting for them to make a new album together because most of the work they've been doing is solo. Kase O was nominated in 2017 for best Urban/Hip Hop Album in the Latin Grammy Awards.
